The School of the Arts is looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to a one-year post to work on an ERC-2020-ADG-funded research project, “Textuality and Diversity: A Literary History of Europe and its Global Connections, 1529-1683” (Action number: 101021262; acronym ‘TextDiveGlobal’), led by Professor Warren Boutcher (PI). The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work under the supervision of Professor Boutcher and the Project Manager, Dr Clare Whitehead, and in association with the Digital Humanities Support Officer, Olivia Warren. Applicants must be available for interview on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, and to start on September 1 2026 or very soon thereafter. This is a fixed-term and full-time post available due to research grant funding.
You must have a PhD (either awarded or submitted and with a viva formally scheduled) in a relevant discipline, with a specialisation in a topic in late medieval or early modern studies. You must have prior experience of writing up and editing research results, data collection and analysis, and picture or documentary research and reproductions. You should have excellent communication and organisational skills and maintain a high level of accuracy in your work. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a team and possess strong interpersonal skills to deal professionally with people at all levels.
The post is full-time for 12 months, with an expected start of 01 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 and available due to research funding. The salary will be £38,419 to £46,618 per annum, inclusive of London allowance.
