The Translational AI Research (TAIR) Lab develops trustworthy AI and carries it into real-world use. We are based in the Centre for Oral, Clinical & Translational Sciences in the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences at King''s College London. Our methodological work spans trustworthy AI, multimodal machine learning and statistical signal processing. Our translational work applies these methods to interdisciplinary problems in healthcare and the environmental sciences

About the role

King''s College London is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in generative AI and large language models. You will be part of a strong Horizon Europe project consortium to conduct frontier research in AI-enabled scientific discovery and biomanufacturing projects. Rooted in King''s belief that knowledge should serve society, this role offers the opportunity to drive impactful research that creates positive change for people, planet, and society.

This is a full-time, and you will be offered a fixed-term contract until 31 August 2030

Research staff at King''s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7. About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

• PhD qualified in relevant subject area: Machine Learning, NLP, Computer Vision or related fields.
• Strong publication record in AI/ML/CV or related areas.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across disciplines.

Desirable criteria

• Experience with training or fine-tuning LLMs or other generative AI models
• Excellent programming skills and familiarity with modern AI frameworks

Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
