The University of Sussex invites applications for a PhD studentship in sustainable materials engineering within the School of Engineering and Informatics. The project investigates how grain refinement and Fe impurities influence defect susceptibility in recycled aluminium alloys, aiming to improve processability and performance.

You will combine laboratory-scale experiments with pilot-scale casting trials, and collaborate with NTNU and an industrial aluminium producer to translate findings into practical applications.
