About the Role

The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science is looking for a skilled professional to join its Antenna Measurement Laboratory (AML). You will work closely with the AML Manager and support day-to-day operations delivering both RF performance and broad electromagnetic field compliance testing from 10 MHz to 5 THz. You will also operate our national EPSRC-funded THz research testing facility, TERRA. The jobholder will ensure that testing is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality standards. In addition, you will provide technical training and support to academics, researchers, and external collaborators, assisting with experimental design, setup, and the preparation of technical documentation.

About You

You should have strong experience in RF, microwave, and antenna measurement environments. A solid understanding of EM measurement principles, antenna test systems, mm-wave frequency extenders and research laboratory practices is essential. You must also be proficient using specialized instruments such as PNAs, spectrum analysers, RF-signal generators, mm-wave modules, RF-probes, and related equipment. Expertise in automated data acquisition and equipment control interface using MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW are essential. Desirable skills include CAD/CAM modelling, additive manufacturing for RF applications, specifically 3D printing technologies like SLA or Nanoscribe two-photon polymerization, is a plus. You should be able to solve complex measurement challenges and produce clear technical documentation. Strong organizational and communication skills are paramount to effectively supporting our diverse user community. You should thrive in a fast-paced research environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work seamlessly both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
