Lecturer in Clinical Psychology (Deputy Academic Director) in London

This Lectureship is an exciting opportunity for an academic clinical psychologist with strong educational experience and wishes to develop their academic leadership to join the Department of Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London (IoPPN-KCL). It is a part-time position based at the Denmark Hill Campus. You will join the Department of Psychology and be part of the DClinPsy training programme and will be part of a vibrant academic department.

About the role:

This lectureship offers an exciting opportunity for an academic clinical psychologist seeking to develop their leadership in education and training, through the DClinPsy programme at the IoPPN, KCL. The post is a part-time (0.6 FTE) role to deputise for the Academic Director supporting the coordination and oversight of academic governance, teaching and assessment Quality Assurance (QA) processes, and communication with internal and external stakeholders thereby ensuring continuity of leadership and timely follow-up on actions arising from meetings.

When required you will represent the Academic Director at relevant programme, departmental, faculty, regulatory and QA meetings.

You will help develop and lead the programme’s Personal Tutor provision as a Senior Personal Tutor, embedding and aligning these processes within the programme team and with the wider KCL provision. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the broader work of programme delivery, including selection. There are opportunities to collaborate or work with colleagues within the Faculty to develop research interests through supervision of trainee projects, and project supervision of undergraduate or postgraduate taught programmes.

Mondays and Fridays are key days for teaching and assessment on the programme, and preferably the post holder would be available to work on both of these days, or as a minimum at least one of these two days.

The postholder will also be expected to contribute to other programmes in the Faculty, including undergraduate personal tutoring, teaching, or project supervision, as required.

This is a part-time post (0.6 FTE) and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you:

Essential criteria

• Professional qualification in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy or equivalent).
• Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with Health Care & Professions Council (HCPC) and post-qualification clinical experience, working under supervision.
• Experience of delivering innovative and effective teaching and assessments, including use of technology, space and resources, and supporting others to undertake these.
• Effective performance of leading academic administrative duties e.g. module leadership or development, curriculum stream leadership, management of examinations / assessments.
• Experience of role of student support such as Personal Tutoring or clinical advising.
• Fellowship of the HEA or on track to receive a Fellowship in the next two years, or relevant qualification in education.

Desirable criteria

• Dissemination of teaching innovations and initiatives at departmental level, or through publication, conferences or through other HEIs or professional groups.
• Presentations at UK HEIs, and national conferences or Faculty and School teaching awards.
• Evidence of engagement with research or scholarship in education, (e.g. evaluating teaching practice, assessment processes, curriculum development), and using findings to inform educational enhancement.
• Level 2 BABCP accreditation or AFSP intermediate accreditation.

£65,091 to £76,691 per annum pro rata, including London Weighting Allowance
