The Academic Registrar will provide strategic leadership for the University’s academic administration services, ensuring the effective management of the student journey from enrolment to award. The successful candidate will lead student administration, student records, academic operations and academic partnership administration, ensuring services are consistent, responsive and student-centred across faculties, campuses and partner provision.
Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience, the appointee will work closely with academic and professional services leaders to support educational delivery, student success, regulatory compliance and sustainable growth. The role will be responsible for the integrity, governance and operation of the University’s student record and associated administrative processes.
The Academic Registrar will lead the development of systems, policies, processes and services that underpin student success, protect academic standards, support high-quality management information, and enable effective delivery of education across Middlesex’s campuses and collaborative partners. The postholder will also provide senior leadership for academic partnership administration, academic regulatory frameworks, and compliance with relevant external requirements.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with significant, recent experience of strategic senior leadership in a complex UK higher education environment. They will bring a proven track record of delivering complex operational management across multifaceted professional service functions, developing innovative solutions, systems and processes, and leading high-performing teams through continuous improvement and change.
They will have an excellent understanding of UK academic governance, regulation, administration and statutory reporting, alongside the judgement, resilience and relationship-building skills required to operate effectively as a senior institutional leader. This is an excellent opportunity to play a central role in shaping the services, systems and partnerships that support the student journey at Middlesex University.
