Overview
We wish to appoint a Research Associate working 37 hours per week to join the Timely Team in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, on a 1-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.
The Timely programme is working to deliver digitally supported pathways for early identification and prevention of health problems in children and young people.
It includes a national data platform to support paediatric research.
The post involves leading projects that aim to improve research and healthcare pathways for children, collaborating with multiple agencies and industry, with the goal of improving child mental health services and helping children and families access support sooner.
The appointee will lead work around pathway design, contribute to patient and public involvement (PPIE), and work on projects related to the use of administrative data for research with emphasis on underserved groups.
A Toolkit will be created as part of these activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead a range of research activities including systematic literature reviews, stakeholder engagement (GPs, children and young people, and families), data collection (e. g., interviews, focus groups, workshops), and data analysis (mixed methods, qualitative, quantitative).
- Contribute to co-design activities and to academic publications.
- Provide regular academic supervision to Ph D students, focusing on developing and integrating AI-driven early identification tools into primary care pathways (supporting the Ph D work, not serving as a primary Ph D supervisor).
- Line manage Research Assistants supporting the broader CADRE and Timely programmes (if applicable).
- Lead and contribute to PPIE activities related to industry access to data, engagement of underrepresented groups, and public transparency.
- Engage in project collaboration with partners such as CA: RING where relevant.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience leading research projects and working with mixed-methods data (qualitative and quantitative).
- Experience with systematic literature reviews and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience with data collection methods (interviews, focus groups, workshops) and data analysis.
- Experience with co-design activities and academic publications.
- Ability to supervise graduate research and contribute to AI-driven tool development within primary care pathways.
- Ability to manage or contribute to PPIE activities and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Terms of Appointment
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance. The role is a 37-hour-per-week contract with potential for extension.
