Technical Staffing Resources (TSR) are the in-house agency and master vendor for KBR, a leading global engineering, construction, and services company. KBR supports the hydrocarbon and government services markets on six continents. Serving its customers through diverse business units, KBR offers challenging assignments on some of the world's largest and most complex projects.
We are looking to recruit a UK Defence Inventory Management Optimisation Specialist for a 6-month contract, nationally based with occasional visits to client sites.

Project Background:
FDSS is the successor contract to Logistics Commodities & Services (Transformation) LCS(T), with additional scope added from adjacent contracts including:
- British Forces Post Office (BFPO)
- Defence Rail
- Defence Equipment Sales Authority (DESA)
- Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP)
- DECA (formerly Defence Electronics and Components Agency)
- Defence Operational Energy (OEA)
FDSS is being contracted by the National Armament Directorate (NAD), with the scope to include:
- Sourcing and Procurement / Contract Management
- Inventory Management and Planning
- Storage and Stock Management
- Logistics and Distribution
The objective of FDSS is to enhance resilience, agility, and scalability to better support the latest Defence Planning Assumptions in the Defence Support and Supply Chain strategies.
Core Responsibilities:
As the Inventory Management Optimisation subject matter expert within the FDSS team, the individual will work with Business Architects:
- Applying a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views and needs of the enterprise to capture, define, optimise, lean, and subsequently implement an optimised inventory management solution for FDSS;
- Describing and capturing the optimised inventory management functions, capabilities, services, and processes to identify and describe systems and information that interact with the business, and describe which people, data and technology are involved in the processes;
- Collecting, understanding, and documenting the functional and non-functional requirements for change initiatives and translating them into business and then technical requirements, ensuring they are well defined and ready for development;
- Support the identification of potential COTS applications;
- Supporting the analysis of new product developments with other architects;
- Supporting the analysis of Best Fit COTS application against requirements;
- Working in close collaboration with the relevant stakeholders to gain approval and prioritisation for identified optimised inventory management initiatives and change proposals;
- Identifying and communicating to relevant stakeholders the impact of optimised inventory management on their processes, resources, technology, and governance structures;
- Support the Business Analysts in modelling the as-is and to-be optimised inventory management processes in an enterprise architecture toolset;
- Analysing and interpreting data and information from several sources to support clients in decision making and unlocking the value in data;
- Supporting the development of information systems and technology architecture.
Experience:
- Experience in designing, developing and operating optimised inventory management solutions;
- Experience in defining and specifying digitally enabled solutions to implement the strategic process of balancing inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimising costs and maximising resilience and agility;
- Fluent in the application of Gartner top quadrant COTS application in Inventory Management;
- The ability to understand inventory management and optimisation change needs and assess the business impact of those changes by driving the identification of requirements across business services;
- The ability to visualise and create models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the inventory management and optimisation;
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience of continuous stakeholder collaboration to gather and refine inventory management optimisation requirements as well as keeping the stakeholder at the heart of design and development, implementation, and transition phases of transformation initiatives;
- Experience in developing operating models and identifying opportunities for development in current inventory management models;
- Be familiar with TOGAF and how general business architecture can drive and affect change with support of frameworks and models;
- Experience working in fast-moving, agile, dynamic environment;
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to define and resolve problems methodically and logically.
