KBR’s Estates Intelligence division specialises in enabling clients to make informed decisions about the operational and strategic management of their estates and asset portfolios. Estates Intelligence teams utilise the ‘6 As’ Methodology to deliver business benefit by deploying their ‘Viaverse’ platform.
The DevOps in Test Manager is responsible for delivering high-quality testing, automation, and assurance activities across complex, multi-supplier programmes. The role combines traditional full lifecycle testing with modern DevOps engineering practices, cloud-based automation, data validation, and analytical dashboard assurance.
Responsibilities
- Test Strategy & Leadership
- Support the Senior Test Manager in defining and governing the Test Strategy.
- Ensure alignment of all test activities with programme quality objectives and milestone deliverables.
- Contribute to risk-based planning, test governance, and multi-workstream quality alignment.
- Provide direction and coordination to internal teams and supplier-side test resources.
- Full Lifecycle Functional Testing (Agile & Waterfall)
- Deliver hands-on testing across the full SDLC from Unit to Acceptance.
- Conduct requirements analysis, static reviews, and dynamic test execution.
- Produce test cases, scenarios, traceability matrices, and structured test reports.
- Apply best practice testing within both Scrum and Waterfall delivery models.
- DevOps in Test & Automation Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-based automated test frameworks.
- Embed automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Drive regression coverage, continuous testing, and quality gate enforcement.
- Demonstrate measurable improvements in testing efficiency and quality outcomes.
- Backend Data Validation (MySQL)
- Write and execute MySQL/SQL queries to perform backend data integrity checks.
- Validate stored procedures and end-to-end data flows between integrated systems.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve data-driven defects through structured analysis.
- Power BI / Power Apps Dashboard Assurance
- Validate KPI dashboards and analytical outputs against backend datasets.
- Perform data lineage checks, metric verification, and business logic validation.
- Identify and resolve issues in DAX logic, transformations, or workflow behaviours.
- Test Governance, Reporting & Documentation
- Produce high-quality test artefacts including test plans, readiness reports, TTMs, and completion reports.
- Provide accurate test progress, quality metrics, and risk updates to governance boards.
- Support informed go-live decision making through structured, evidence-based reporting.
- Environment & Configuration Management Assurance
- Ensure test environment readiness, configuration control, and adherence to data baselines.
- Support release management, backup/restore processes, and environment validation.
- Resolve environment issues impacting testing activities.
- Defect & Quality Management
- Own and manage the full defect lifecycle including reporting, triage, RCA, and resolution.
- Reduce defect leakage and improve quality outcomes through proactive management.
- Collaborate with suppliers and technical teams to ensure timely remediation.
- KPI-Driven Quality Oversight
- Use analytics tools to track test coverage, progress, and quality KPIs.
- Provide data-driven insights that influence programme delivery and release risk assessments.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Governance Representation
- Represent the testing function in programme governance forums.
- Coordinate with supplier test teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Articulate quality status, risks, and technical issues clearly and confidently.
- Quality Gate Support
- Prepare structured test evidence for quality gateway reviews.
- Influence release decisions through risk-based insights and objective quality reporting.
Experience Requirements
- Experience of working on large scale multi-organisational transformation programmes.
- Demonstrate hands-on technical testing competence in both traditional and DevOps environments.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proven experience in data-driven assurance.
- Possess excellent communication skills and confidence representing the testing function in governance forums.
- Be proactive, structured, and able to manage testing across multiple workstreams.
- Bring a continuous improvement mindset, constantly seeking opportunities to enhance test processes, automation, and quality standards.
Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks within cloud environments.
- Strong hands-on capability in writing MySQL/SQL queries to validate data integrity.
- Proven experience identifying, analysing, and resolving data-related defects.
- Practical experience validating KPI dashboards and analytical reports.
- Hands-on experience using test management tooling, including Jira and Zephyr.
Qualifications/Certifications Requirements
- Degree Educated preferably in a technical subject.
- ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing.
- Desirable certifications include ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst, ISTQB Technical Test Analyst, ISTQB Test Manager, ISTQB Agile Tester, PRINCE2 Foundation/Practitioner, Agile Scrum Master, Azure DevOps Engineer, AWS or GCP Cloud Practitioner, Jenkins or GitHub Actions CI/CD certifications, MySQL Developer/DBA Certification, Microsoft SQL/Data Fundamentals, Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals.
