Our client is an established and highly respected manufacturing business based in North Yorkshire.

Due to continued growth, they are currently recruiting a Product Development Manager to lead the Product Development team, designing innovative new products based on market trends and specific customer requirements.

The successful candidate will have excellent design judgement with the ability to turn product requirements into practical, manufacturable, and validated solutions.

The Product Development Manager will ensure new and existing products are designed, validated, documented, and released in line with customer requirements, business priorities, safety expectations, quality standards, and manufacturing capability.

Be focused on product design capability, technical delivery, project control, and management of the development team, ensuring robust mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and application-led solutions are delivered effectively.

Product Development Manager - Key responsibilities

The Product Development Manager will lead the Product Development team and be responsible for end-to-end product design delivery, design control, workload planning, technical decision-making, resource prioritisation, and performance of the team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating product requirements into practical design solutions, overseeing CAD models, drawings, BOMs, test plans, validation activity, technical documentation, design reviews, and product release outputs.

The Product Development Manager will also support type approval, liaise with test facilities and notified bodies where required, and ensure product knowledge is embedded across production, product support, and commercial teams.

  • STEM related Degree is preferred.
  • Solid experience gained in product development, design engineering, application engineering, or a related technical leadership role.
  • Strong product design capability across mechanical, electrical, automotive, industrial, transportation, aerospace, agricultural or earthmoving applications.
  • Experience managing technical teams, planning workloads, prioritising resources, tracking actions, and controlling delivery.
  • Competent in CAD, preferably Solid Works, plus BOMs, drawings, specifications, test plans, reports, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, organisation, workload planning, prioritisation, follow-up, and delivery control.
  • Clear communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, technical reporting, and design review capability.

The Product Development Manager position is offering £50,000 - £60,000 basic salary plus great benefits!

This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm.

Based at our client’s North Yorkshire office with flexibility to attend customer sites and testing facilities.
