Our client is an established and growing manufacturer based in the Leeds area. Due to internal promotion, our client is currently recruiting a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing & Planning Coordinator to support their procurement and planning functions. The role plays a key part in ensuring the timely availability of materials, accurate inventory management, and smooth coordination between suppliers, planning, and internal operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchasing Support
- Assist with preparing and processing purchase orders in line with company policies.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery schedules, order confirmations, and discrepancies.
- Track purchase orders and follow up on late or incomplete deliveries.
- Maintain accurate supplier records and purchasing documentation.
- Planning & Inventory Support
- Assist with material requirements planning (MRP) and demand forecasting activities.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Update planning systems with forecasts, lead times, and inventory data.
- Support production and sales planning by providing accurate material availability information.
- Assist with stock counts, reconciliations, and inventory reporting.
- Coordination & Administration
- Liaise with internal teams including production, warehouse, finance, and sales.
- Prepare reports on purchasing activity, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
- Maintain accurate records within ERP or inventory management systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across purchasing and planning processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience gained within a purchasing, planning, or supply chain support function.
- Experience raising and tracking purchase order numbers.
- Experience within a manufacturing or production planning environment beneficial.
- Proficient in MS Excel with hands-on experience of using an ERP system.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communicator with the ability to coordinate effectively across suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
The Purchasing & Planning Coordinator position is offering circa. £28,000 - £32,000 basic salary plus benefits. Full-time, permanent, based onsite at our clients Leeds manufacturing site.
