Our client is an established manufacturing client based in Harrogate. Due to continued growth, they are currently recruiting a Head of eCommerce to join their senior Commercial leadership team. This newly created role offers a rare opportunity to define, build and deliver a complete end-to-end eCommerce strategy from initial vision through to execution, optimisation and scale, across both B2B and B2C channels.
This is a pivotal leadership role, owning the digital commerce landscape and shaping how the business acquires, serves and retains customers in an increasingly digital-first environment.
The RoleAs Head of eCommerce, you will be accountable for the cradle-to-grave delivery of the organisations eCommerce vision. You will set the strategic direction, lead platform selection and implementation, oversee adoption and optimisation, and ensure digital commerce delivers sustained, profitable growth. As a senior member of the Commercial team, you will work closely with board-level stakeholders and cross-functional leaders to embed digital commerce as a core capability of the business.
Key Responsibilities- Strategy, Vision & Delivery
- Define, own and deliver the end-to-end eCommerce strategy from concept to execution, optimisation and ongoing evolution.
- Translate strategic vision into actionable roadmaps, investment cases and delivery plans.
- Lead platform selection, implementation, onboarding and long-term platform management.
- Present strategic recommendations, progress and performance updates to board-level stakeholders.
- Commercial Growth & Customer Experience
- Drive revenue growth through conversion optimisation, customer acquisition and retention strategies.
- Design and deliver best-in-class digital customer journeys across all touchpoints.
- Lead website and app roadmaps focused on making the customers job easier.
- Champion data-driven personalisation, content strategy and customer engagement initiatives.
- Digital Enablement & Operations
- Design and implement adoption strategies transitioning customers from traditional offline sales to self-service, EDI, punchout and integrated solutions.
- Establish customer feedback mechanisms and continuous improvement processes.
- Ensure service quality standards across fulfilment, customer support and returns.
- Build scalable systems and processes that support growth without proportional cost increases.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, accessibility and trading standards.
- People & Change Leadership
- Lead change management across the Commercial team and wider senior leadership team.
- Assess requirements, then build, develop and lead a high-performing digital commerce team.
- Create a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and commercial focus.
- Establish clear roles, objectives and performance expectations.
An experienced eCommerce leader with a proven track record of defining, building and delivering cradle-to-grave eCommerce strategies from inception through to scaled operation, ideally within a B2B, B2C or mixed environment. Strong commercial acumen with a history of delivering measurable revenue growth. Hands-on experience of eCommerce platform selection, implementation and optimisation. A customer-first, data-driven mindset. Strong leadership, stakeholder management and change management capability.
The Head of eCommerce position is offering £55,000 - £60,000 basic salary plus great benefits. This is a full-time, permanent position, based on-site in Harrogate.
