Production Manager required in Newport - new facility, small team (25), but part of a growing global group. Mon-Thurs 8:00am-4:30pm, Friday 7:00am-1:00pm.
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to plan, organise, and control production activities to ensure the timely supply of best-value products to global retail and professional customers, while promoting lean manufacturing best practices to improve Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery performance.
Our client is a world-leading manufacturer of B2B and B2C products with c700 employees across multiple sites in the UK, Europe and the US. With leading brands, innovative products, and a global footprint, they are committed to delivering sustainable solutions that protect public health and work in harmony with nature.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver weekly production plans within agreed cost and labour targets, using agency labour where required.
- Lead departmental objectives and KPIs while promoting a strong safety-first culture.
- Drive continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and operational efficiency across production.
- Manage and develop a multi-functional production team.
- Support audits (H&S, ISO9001, customer/system) and ensure full compliance.
- Support new product introductions, trials, and pre-production runs.
- Manage labour costs, stock control, and production data via ERP (Dynamics).
- Recommend and support capital investment projects.
- Ensure accurate completion of all production and quality documentation.
- Maintain high standards of GMP, housekeeping, PPE compliance, and flexibility to meet production demands.
- Production Management or Supervisory experience in manufacturing (Packaging/FMCG preferred).
- Strong people management skills with experience leading teams of 25+.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools (5S, Kaizen).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems.
- Good standard of education (A-level or equivalent) and communication skills.
- Several years experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
- ILM/NVQ Level 36 or professional production management qualification.
- Extensive lean/CI experience in Packaging or FMCG.
- Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with high attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, team-focused, and able to motivate others.
