Production Supervisors with heavy manufacturing / assembly experience required in Stockport. This is an outstanding opportunity to join part of a global business operating in the defence industry, supplying equipment to the British military. The Production Supervisors will lead and supervise manufacturing teams of Welders, Fabricators, Mechanical and Electrical Fitters to safely ensure the on-time delivery of finished products at correct quality and cost. They will champion continuous improvement in all activities and areas of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise manufacturing teams to safely deliver products on time, within quality and cost targets.
- Champion continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility.
- Ensure adherence to Health, Environmental and Safety policies and lead SHE activities in the relevant area.
- Deploy and reallocate resources to meet production needs and manage absence per company procedures.
- Prepare daily reporting of primary business measures and maintain local KPIs (SQCDP).
- Conduct start and end of shift briefs to communicate key business topics to the workforce.
- Maintain compliance with Quality Management Systems and Manufacturing Procedures, addressing any escapes.
- Manage the capability, capacity and competency of the manufacturing team to meet programme requirements.
- Oversee on-site safety, training, and competency development, including attendance at training courses as needed.
Experience and qualifications
- Heavy industry manufacturing experience.
- HND / Degree level qualification in manufacturing / engineering.
- Substantial experience in a manufacturing / production supervisor role.
- IOSH / NEBOSH or other health and safety related qualification.
- Leadership experience of manufacturing teams in Aerospace, Automotive or similar mechanical engineering business.
- Experience leading and implementing manufacturing schedules and recovery plans.
- Project reporting including definition and collation of KPIs.
- Working knowledge of SAP (or similar ERP) and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge and understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Experience managing manufacturing environments safely with a clear understanding of risk management.
- Resource planning and competence management; completion of employee performance reviews.
- Experience with equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance planning.
