MKC Training is offering a unique opportunity to become a Trainee STEM Lecturer, with full training and support provided. No previous teaching experience is required. Based at the prestigious Royal School of Military Engineering in Chatham, you'll join a collaborative team delivering high-quality engineering education in modern workshops and laboratories.

During your first year, you'll work alongside experienced lecturers, developing your teaching skills before progressing into your chosen specialist STEM discipline.

The Role

Initially, you'll support the delivery of practical and classroom-based engineering education, helping students develop the technical knowledge and skills required for successful engineering careers. Your primary focus will be Electrical and Electronic Engineering, with opportunities to broaden your experience across a wide range of STEM subjects, including:

You'll support the delivery of engineering principles and laboratory sessions up to Foundation Degree level, whilst also contributing to vocational engineering programmes for electricians, refrigeration engineers, mechanical fitters and other engineering trades. Working with small class sizes, excellent facilities and highly motivated learners, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference while continuing your own professional development.

Essential

  • A minimum Level 5 qualification (HNC/HND, Foundation Degree or equivalent) in Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related STEM discipline
  • Strong technical knowledge and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for developing others
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a professional team
  • Knowledge of safe working practices within an engineering environment
  • Willingness to complete a fully funded Level 3 or Level 5 Teaching Qualification within two years

Desirable

  • Experience within an Electrical or Electronic Engineering environment
  • Previous coaching, mentoring or training experience
  • Membership of a recognised Engineering Institution
  • Teaching qualification
  • Knowledge of safeguarding requirements
