Location: Saltend Chemical Park, Hull

Shifts: Days & Nights available (10‑hour shifts)

Rotation: 10 days on, 4 days off

Duration: 8 weeks initially (potential for extension)

NAECI Grade 5 rates apply

  • Days: £23.45
  • Nights: £29.66
  • Overtime A: £32.83
  • Overtime B: £42.21
  • Lodge: £373.73 per week (as per NAECI agreement)

Bonuses

  • 80p/hour weekly bonus
  • £1.57/hour IBA (paid fortnightly)

We are looking for an Instrument Pipefitter to install, fabricate, test, and maintain small‑bore tubing and piping systems that connect process instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments) to industrial equipment at Saltend Chemical Park.

Installation and Fabrication

  • Install stainless steel, copper, and carbon steel instrument tubing and pipework.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, and assemble tubing and pipes.
  • Install impulse lines, pneumatic tubing, manifolds, valves, and instrument air systems.
  • Fabricate and install pipe supports and brackets.

Drawing Interpretation

  • Read P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
  • Read isometric drawings.
  • Read hook‑up drawings.
  • Read engineering specifications and blueprints.
  • Set out work accurately from drawings and project documentation.

Testing and Commissioning

  • Perform pressure testing and leak testing.
  • Inspect completed installations for quality and compliance.
  • Assist with commissioning and start‑up activities.

Maintenance and Repair

  • Troubleshoot instrument piping systems.
  • Replace damaged tubing, fittings, valves, and supports.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance.

Health, Safety, and Quality

  • Follow site safety procedures and permit‑to‑work systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments.
  • Ensure installations meet project specifications and industry standards.

Essential Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship in Pipefitting, or Instrumentation.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pipefitting, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Industrial experience in pipefitting or instrumentation installation.
  • Swagelok SBT01‑02 training.
  • CCNSG Safety Passport / CSCS or safety training certification.
