Technical Partners are working with a leading engineering and technology organisation to recruit a Proposals Engineer. This role plays a critical part in producing high‑quality technical and commercial tender submissions across complex industrial projects. You'll collaborate with proposals, engineering, sales, and supply chain teams to develop tailored solutions that align with client requirements and engineering best practice. Key Responsibilities
- Review customer specifications and develop compliant, cost‑effective technical solutions
- Produce conceptual designs including control panel layouts, MCCs, PLC/SCADA architectures, networks, servers, and associated infrastructure
- Prepare persuasive tender documentation including technical descriptions, clarifications, assumptions, exclusions, and delivery strategies
- Create accurate estimates for engineering hours and materials, including BOM development and supplier engagement
- Support sales teams during pre‑ and post‑tender discussions
- Participate in tender reviews and risk assessments
- Coordinate technical and commercial inputs from internal teams and subcontractors
- Manage multiple tenders concurrently while providing clear progress updates
- Contribute to continuous improvement of proposal and estimating processes
- Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and quality standards
Experience & Knowledge Required
- Background in electrical engineering, controls, automation, or safety systems
- Understanding of the full project lifecycle from concept through delivery
- Awareness of functional safety systems (e.g. SIL, ESD, Fire & Gas)
- Ability to specify or assess PLC hardware, control panels, networks, servers, and system architectures
- Strong ability to interpret technical specifications and extract scope, compliance, and risk
- Experience producing engineering estimates and/or Bills of Materials (advantageous)
- Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline

- Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to translate engineering concepts into clear proposals
- Strong commercial awareness and risk identification capability
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
