About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Roofing & Cladding Designer to join their specialist facades division based in Wrexham. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong designer looking to develop their career within a forward-thinking contractor operating across the building envelope sector. The role offers a clear pathway to Design Management for the right candidate, making it ideal for someone looking to progress into leadership within a growing design team.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed roofing and cladding design drawings from concept through to construction stage
- Develop technical design solutions for a range of façade, roofing, and external envelope systems
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure design coordination and buildability
- Liaise with architects, consultants, and suppliers to resolve technical queries
- Ensure all designs comply with current UK building regulations and industry standards
- Assist with material selection and system specification for roofing and cladding packages
- Support value engineering and design optimisation initiatives
- Participate in design coordination meetings and project reviews
- Maintain accurate revision control and technical documentation throughout project lifecycle
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in roofing and cladding design within the construction or façades sector
- Strong understanding of building envelope systems, including roofing, rainscreen cladding, and associated components
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential); Revit or other 3D modelling software is advantageous
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately
- Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction detailing
- Strong communication and coordination skills across multiple stakeholders
- Ability to manage workload across multiple live projects
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within façades or specialist envelope contractors
- Exposure to commercial, industrial, or large-scale residential projects
- Understanding of BIM workflows and collaborative design environments
- Knowledge of metal roofing systems, composite panels, or rainscreen systems
