Job Overview:
If you’re an experienced EC&I Design Engineer looking for a role where you can design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge compliance solutions on chemical and petrochemical sites in the UK, this is your opportunity to join a forward-thinking team that values expertise and career growth.
As an EC&I Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering all electrical, control, and instrumentation (EC&I) elements of office and site-based projects. Our EC&I Design Engineers work closely with clients and project teams to interpret requirements, develop engineered solutions, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage all EC&I project activities and report to the project team.
- Communicate effectively with clients and other engineering disciplines.
- Develop engineering budgets and attend project/client meetings.
- Create tender packages for installation works and manage procurement.
- Conduct site surveys and manage installation works on behalf of the client/business.
- Assist with plant fault finding and resolve electrical/instrumentation issues.
- Maintain EC&I documentation and ensure proper handover of projects.
- Develop EC&I designs, including:
- Block cable and single line diagrams
- Instrument and valve data sheets
- Instrument loop diagrams
- Junction box and connection diagrams
- Control Panel and MCC panel schematics and GA’s
- Hazardous and non-hazardous area equipment specifications
- Intrinsically Safe (I.S) safety calculations
- Control system User Requirement Specifications
- Cause & effects matrix
- Various schedules (termination, cable, label, junction box, etc.)
- Review and improve ways of working to enhance safety and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation & Control, or HNC/HND with relevant experience.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and AMTECH cable calculation software.
- Familiarity with DCS and PLC systems.
- Experience in process industries and hazardous/explosive environments.
- Hands on experience with Gas Networks and terminals (desirable)
- Knowledge of Functional Safety Systems (BSEN 61508 & BSEN 61511).
