Global Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturer in the West Midlands are currently looking for an Operations Manager to join the team and help drive major managerial change in their world-class manufacturing facility. With the business in a very strong place and a strong order book, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the continuing improvement of the business whilst managing direct reports in Quality, Maintenance, Process Improvement and Tooling.
Reporting into the Plant Manager, you will be a strong communicator and a key advocate for engagement with internal stakeholders, the workforce and external stakeholders. You will be a key ambassador for Quality, Health & Safety, Your People, Cost and Delivery. You will play a significant role in driving cultural change on site and help motivate and improve your team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fast-paced complex manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities for the Operations Manager:
- Oversee day-to-day operations using the SQCDP review and implement improvements where possible.
- Develop and grow your direct reports and the team around you to build a positive and nurturing environment.
- Implementation and review of Standard Operating Procedures/KPIs across your department.
- Manage and mentor a diverse team, fostering engagement and professional growth.
- Drive a strong culture of Health & Safety on site.
- Lead and drive Continuous Improvement activities.
- Help lead a multi-skilled Engineering team as well as leading your management team.
Key Requirements for the Operations Manager:
- Tangible record of success in a Senior Management role within an OEM/Tier 1 Environment within Automotive (essential).
- Qualification in Engineering (Degree, HNC, HND) ideal.
- A solid exposure to Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement.
- Strong communication skills; forging strong relationships with your various direct reports.
- Engagement and empowerment will be key to this role.
