We’re looking for a dynamic individual to lead the Quality function at our client Birmingham plant. In this pivotal role, you’ll manage the site’s quality systems, ensure compliance with standards, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and Zero Defect quality. Working closely with the Plant Management Team, you’ll drive operational excellence and deliver high-quality products that meet customer expectations.
Job Description:- Lead and manage the Quality Department, developing a high-performing and accountable team culture.
- Maintain and continuously improve the company’s QMS.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Control traceability and certification, ensuring certificates of testing and conformity accurately reflect product data.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, improve yield, and enhance process efficiency.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and customers to resolve quality issues and ensure full compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training, mentorship, and development opportunities for quality staff especially with regard to upskilling use of quality tools – APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA.
- Proven experience as a Quality Manager within a heavy manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (lead auditor preferred).
- Demonstrable experience managing and developing multidisciplinary quality teams.
- Competent in root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, statistical process control and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills, with a methodical and practical approach.
- Formal engineering or quality-related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) preferred.
- Proactive and quality-driven, with a passion for improvement.
- Effective leader who builds confidence and accountability within teams.
- Hands-on and pragmatic, with strong problem-solving ability.
- Committed to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and product integrity.
