A Metrology/ CMM Technician is sought by a leading precision engineering & manufacturing business who have won significant new programmes with defence & aerospace customers.
Salary: £35-40000 + benefits
Location: Nuneaton
This is an interesting and varied responsibility to work for a business that designs and manufactures low volume and prototype high precision components and assemblies for a wide range of customers, so this role affords the opportunity to work on customer projects from concept and engineering design through to production.
Duties:
- Measure & inspect complex components & assemblies using CMM and Faro Arm metrology equipment
- Programming of metrology equipment - CMM & Faro Arm
- Undertake quality audits where necessary
- Prepare inspection reports (FAIR & AS9100) for customers
- Ensure metrology equipment is maintained and calibrated
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve issues
- Actively seek to improve processes, productivity and 5S
Experience:
- Applications are sought from experienced Metrology Technicians or CMM Inspectors / Programmers with significant knowledge of measurement, production quality control and new product introduction within low volume precision engineering or manufacturing, ideally gained with defence, aerospace or similar sector.
- Proven experience working as a Metrology or CMM Technician, ideally within aerospace, defence or similar precision engineering business.
- Capable of operating and programming CMM from customer parts drawing. Experience using Autodesk PowerInspect or similar software.
- Operation of other metrology equipment – micrometers, gauges, laser/optical scanners.
- Experience compiling FAIR documentation and reports.
- Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 and MOD/ NATO standards ideally.
- Apprentice trained / engineering qualification (BTEC/ Degree).
- Able to read engineering drawings with a high level of competency understanding GD&T/ tolerance stack ups for high tolerance components and assemblies.
