Our client is a specialist manufacturer, supplying complex metallic products and assemblies for the automotive industry and this year promises several key product launches, continued investment in the production facility and subsequent increase in volumes with further growth planned.
Job Description:
- Oversee continuous improvement & lean manufacturing initiatives to improve plant efficiency and performance.
- Specification of production facilities and capital equipment and make recommendations for the selection of vendors equipment.
- Implement improvements in manufacturing processes to optimise process performance and capability.
- Lead machine PFMEA process for existing and new capital investment programmes.
- Review and improve SOP/ process instructions, process flow, standard operations and capability.
- Support New Product Development (NPI) initiatives and DFM/DFA.
- Optimise process flow and minimise waste through use of MTM, line balancing, VSM and lean manufacturing methods.
Experience:
- You will already be a competent Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Senior Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing Engineering Manager with previous experience within high volume mechanical manufacturing background.
- Significant experience delivering manufacturing engineering improvement programmes utilising standardised work, poka yoke, value stream manufacturing, line balancing, MTM methodologies.
- Project management and supplier/ vendor liaison.
- Experience of production processes eg: plastic moulding, stamping, cold rolling, casting, forging, CNC machining or large automated / robotic assembly.
- Good communication skills for effective liaison and teamwork.
- Hands on approach with proven problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on several tasks or projects concurrently.
- Time served or Graduate Mechanical in Manufacturing Engineering or similar technical subject.
