Due to continued success, our client is recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join the team. Working within a successful and proven team, this is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking B Corp organisation.
About You: Working within a fast-paced manufacturing/production environment, you will have experience within the Food or beverage industry. You will have experience within senior leadership across production, Health and Safety, Quality and NPD.
- Responsible for Safety and food safety within area of control
- Responsible for the maintenance & availability of the process & packing lines
- Make incremental improvements & changes in terms of reliability, moving to a preventative model, reducing machinery downtime, maintain & improve stability
- Manage departmental budget, resource planning, contractor control, and performance management
- Managing the R&R to agreed budget, controlling engineering stocks seeking ways to balance Risk vs Cost
- Build a strong culture of safety, accountability, and proactive maintenance
- Leading, coaching and developing the maintenance team
- Professionalize the maintenance department with a strong focus on predictive and preventive maintenance
- Ensure the Engineering department are Audit ready at all times eg BRC, SMETA and Customer Audits
- Ensure compliance to ALL legal and mandatory requirements incl. Electrical fixed wiring, Pressure systems, L8 water management etc.
- Installation & de-installation of plant & equipment, as required
- Working with others on a range of Engineering and Operational Projects ensuring budgetary, technical compliance and target timelines are met
- Driving and reporting on key performance indicators to manage the effectiveness of the department and share
SKILLS REQUIRED:
ESSENTIAL
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance/engineering leadership position, ideally within Food manufacturing
- Relevant qualifications in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
- An engaged, positive and strong leader with a ‘can do’ mentality, who can solve problems
- Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, HSE regulations, and food safety engineering standards
- Data driven with a continuous improvement mentality, formal knowledge and use of CI tools
- Demonstrable success improving OEE and leading maintenance teams
- Strong understanding of automated production equipment, packaging machinery, and utilities
- Excellent people leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of IT and Engineering CMMS systems
DESIRABLE
- IOSH/NEBOSH qualification
- Experienced in the implementation of Engineering CMMS systems (e.g., Shire, Agility, SAP PM)
- Experience of chilled and bakery processing environments
- Experience managing capex projects from design to commissioning
- Experience of audit processes with BRC and retailers (Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury’s, etc.) would be an advantage
