A global friction welding manufacturer is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team based just outside the Birmingham area. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working and adaptable Engineer with a strong design background. Operating at the West Midlands site, you will be responsible for the design and technical support of industrial control panels and more. This is a fantastic opportunity with a multi-national welding company who supply to some of the biggest names in the world.
The key responsibilities of the Electrical Design Engineer role will be:
- Prepare and configure both standard and custom electrical wiring drawings, along with complete Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulatory, design, and testing requirements.
- Produce design documentation including drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure delivered solutions meet required performance standards.
- Provide technical guidance and promote best practices in industrial control panel design.
- Maintain compliance with applicable design and testing standards throughout project lifecycles.
- Develop and support test rigs, simulation models, and prototype control systems.
- Generate safety approval and sign-off documentation.
- Perform calculations in line with applicable standards (e.g. BS EN 13849) and demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant electrical standards (e.g. IEC 60204).
The key requirements of the Electrical Design Engineer will be:
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Mechanical/Electrical and EPLAN.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems and control panel design.
- Familiarity with relevant safety and compliance standards.
- HND or Degree qualified is preferred.
