Manage a Cambridge Life Science Landmark. Location: Cambridge | Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + Benefits.

Cambridge isn’t just a university city; it’s the engine room of global life sciences. From the sequencing of the first genome to the latest breakthroughs in AI-driven drug discovery, this city demands infrastructure that never sleeps and never fails.

We are looking for a Building Manager to take the reins of a brand-new, high-spec life sciences facility. This isn’t a standard office block. This is a technically complex environment housing GMP manufacturing, high-containment laboratories, and the bright minds of the UK’s most innovative R&D firms.

You won’t just be "managing a building"—you will be the operational backbone of scientific discovery, ensuring that years of research are protected by a flawless environment. When a BMS alert pings or a gas system needs attention, you’re the one ensuring that years of scientific work remain protected.

  • Own the Launch: You’ll be on-site from day one, overseeing the transition from construction to a live, breathing science hub.
  • Support the Science: Act as the face of the building for world-class tenants, helping them navigate complex fit-outs and specialized waste streams.
  • The Technical Edge: From advanced air handling units to 24/7 security and logistics, you’ll lead the service partners that keep this ecosystem thriving.

You likely already operate within Cambridge’s "Knowledge Economy" or a similar regulated environment. You understand that "Facility Management" in a lab is about reliability and continuity, not just aesthetics. You are comfortable managing complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems. You’ve got the diplomacy to handle C-suite scientists and the "boots on the ground" grit to manage contractors during a busy fit-out phase.

NEBOSH or IOSH? Ideally. But your real-world experience in technically demanding buildings is what matters most.

Why apply through me? The Cambridge recruitment market is crowded, but experience matters. I’ve been a specialist recruiter in this region for over 25 years. I don’t just "send CVs." I have worked closely with several members of this client’s senior leadership team in the past and understand the internal culture and the specific project nuances of this new site.

By applying through an independent specialist, you get:

  • Direct Insight and a deep dive into the project’s long-term roadmap that you won’t find on a standard job board.
  • Detailed briefing on the interview panel’s expectations and the building’s unique technical quirks.
  • Your profile won’t get lost in a portal; it goes directly to the decision-makers I’ve known for years.

The Cambridge cluster is growing. Be at the heart of its newest chapter.

Apply in Confidence. To protect the niche nature of this project, full details of the site and the global specialist behind it will be shared upon a successful initial screening call.
