Operational Lead: King’s Cross Science and Innovation Quarter
Location: King’s Cross, London (N1)
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 + Benefits
King’s Cross has transformed from a transport hub into the most concentrated science and innovation quarters in the world. Nestled around the Francis Crick Institute and the British Library, this facility is where global breakthroughs in life sciences are actually manufactured.
We are seeking a Building Manager who can navigate the high-stakes environment of a purpose-built life sciences landmark. This isn’t a role for someone who needs a manual; it’s for a specialist who can hit the ground running as a significant global tenant prepares to take a major footprint in the building.
You will be the visible, on-site engine room of a technically advanced site combining GMP manufacturing, high-spec laboratories, and premium office space. With a massive new tenant mobilization imminent, you will lead the charge on fit-out activities and operational integration.
You’ll oversee advanced air handling, central gas systems, and 24-hour security, ensuring 100% continuity for research-intensive occupants. You are the bridge between the development teams, the commercial leasing arm, and the world-class scientists on-site.
The Profile
We need someone who can hit the ground running. Competent managing a high demand complex building whilst providing tenants with a "white glove" customer experience. You have at least 3 years of experience in a comparable operational role within technically complex buildings.
You aren’t rattled by "critical" environments—you understand that in GMP and lab spaces, reliability and safety are non-negotiable. You are a master of contractor KPIs and a "hands-on" user of Building Management Systems (BMS). NEBOSH or IOSH is the standard we’re looking for.
The Specialist Advantage
I have represented for over 5 years as they have expanded across the UK. I regularly work with the senior leadership team to source the new talent needed to deliver their most ambitious growth phases. I can provide you with the project-specific details, personalities and work culture you won’t find in a generic job description. Getting you considered by the hiring managers. Not a lost application in an AI recruitment portal that is benchmarking your CV writing skills and not how good you are at your day job.
Apply in Confidence
To protect the interests of the incoming tenant and the niche nature of this facility, full site details will be shared during an initial screening.
