We are an established Environment and Planning Consultancy that has built up a track record of success, notably in the waste/recycling and renewable energy sectors. We are looking for a Town Planner to cover a fixed term of maternity leave. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience preparing and managing planning applications through the consenting process, and possess an excellent working knowledge of the planning system, with an aptitude for developing strong relationships with clients, Local Authority Officers, suppliers and other stakeholders. This is a temporary part-time role that represents an excellent opportunity for the right individual to join the business and actively contribute to a number of our ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking over and continuing existing projects, building on applications already underway within the planning system.
- Researching site characteristics - planning history, local planning policies, planning constraints, etc.
- Attending site investigations alongside senior team members.
- Preparing and managing the submission of planning applications.
- Managing suppliers to ensure the timely delivery and accuracy of studies and assessments.
- Delivering Pre-Application Consultation programmes and public engagement events.
- Monitoring consultation responses to planning applications and actioning with clients and project teams.
- Providing regular updates to colleagues, clients and other stakeholders to keep them informed of progress.
- Compiling and submitting applications to discharge planning conditions.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this role candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a planning related role. Demonstrable experience of the following would be a significant advantage:
- Preparing and submitting planning applications for recycling/waste management developments, renewable energy developments and/or industrial developments.
- Good working knowledge of CAD/GIS software packages.
- Experience in delivering Pre-Application Consultation programmes and public engagement events.
Location
This is an office-based role at our South Wales headquarters, with regular travel within Wales and to a lesser extent, the rest of the UK. Hybrid working will be considered.
Hours
Part-time, 2-3 days per week (flexible) 12 month contract (commencing mid-July 2026)
Salary and Benefits
Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience. £25,000.00 - £35,000.00 22 days p.a. annual leave allowance plus bank holidays (pro-rata)
