Infrastructure Manager

Full-Time No working from home possible
TechNET IT Recruitment Ltd

Hybrid (3 days in the office) | London (with occasional travel to UK sites)

Are you an experienced Infrastructure professional looking for a role where you'll genuinely influence technology strategy rather than simply keeping the lights on?

We're partnering with a well-established, multi-site organisation operating within a highly regulated, customer-facing environment to recruit an Infrastructure Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a complex enterprise infrastructure estate, working at the heart of technology decision-making whilst collaborating closely with senior stakeholders and strategic technology partners.

This is not a traditional people management role. Instead, you'll become the organisation's technical authority across infrastructure, cloud and networking, ensuring outsourced technology partners deliver secure, resilient and high-performing services whilst driving continuous improvement across the estate.

The Opportunity

You'll inherit responsibility for a mature enterprise environment where much of the day-to-day infrastructure support is delivered through managed service providers. Your role is to provide technical leadership, governance and direction, ensuring suppliers remain accountable and infrastructure continues to evolve in line with business needs.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, third-party providers and senior leadership, you'll play a key role in shaping infrastructure strategy, improving operational resilience and delivering technology modernisation initiatives across a multi-site estate.

If you enjoy solving technical problems, influencing architectural decisions and challenging suppliers to deliver their very best work, this role offers an excellent blend of hands‑on technical credibility and strategic ownership.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Taking ownership of enterprise infrastructure across cloud, on-premise and network environments.
  • Acting as the primary technical contact for managed service providers and infrastructure partners.
  • Reviewing and challenging technical designs, change requests and implementation plans.
  • Driving infrastructure strategy, standards, governance and technical roadmaps.
  • Leading infrastructure modernisation, cloud adoption and technology refresh programmes.
  • Supporting Azure and Microsoft 365 services alongside Windows, Linux and virtualisation platforms.
  • Overseeing networking technologies including Cisco Meraki and Fortinet environments.
  • Improving resilience, disaster recovery, availability and overall service performance.
  • Managing technical risks, supplier performance and infrastructure-related projects.
  • Supporting budgeting, procurement and vendor management activities.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and excellent stakeholder management.

You'll ideally have:

  • Significant experience within enterprise infrastructure engineering or infrastructure leadership.
  • Strong Azure and Microsoft cloud experience.
  • Expertise across Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Hyper‑V and Active Directory.
  • Experience working within outsourced or co‑managed infrastructure environments.
  • The confidence to review, challenge and approve supplier technical designs.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking, security and operational resilience.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure strategy, roadmaps and transformation initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working across multi‑site environments would be highly advantageous.

Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, CCNP or ITIL are welcomed but practical experience and technical judgement are valued above certifications alone.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to step into a genuinely influential position where your technical expertise will shape the future direction of a large-scale infrastructure environment.

You'll join an organisation investing in its technology estate, working alongside an experienced leadership team in a role offering significant autonomy, varied technical challenges and exposure to strategic decision-making.

If you're looking to move beyond purely operational infrastructure support into a position where you can influence architecture, challenge suppliers and drive meaningful technology improvements, we'd love to hear from you.

Location:

Hybrid, London, with occasional travel to sites across the UK.

This version is deliberately pitched at senior Infrastructure Managers, Lead Infrastructure Engineers, Infrastructure Architects and Technical Infrastructure Leads without revealing the client, while emphasising the MSP governance and technical ownership aspects that make the role stand out.
