We're seeking an experienced OT Project Engineer / OT Project Manager to join a major Operational Technology programme delivering critical infrastructure and industrial automation projects across multiple operational sites throughout the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in SCADA, PLCs, telemetry systems, industrial communications, and OT networks who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle, from initial surveys and design through to commissioning and handover. The role will involve regular travel to operational sites, working closely with engineering teams, operations stakeholders, system integrators, and specialist suppliers to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Operational Technology (OT) projects involving SCADA, PLCs, telemetry systems, and industrial communication networks.
- Support the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, dependency management, and project reporting activities.
- Coordinate multiple System Integrators and specialist OT suppliers throughout project delivery.
- Undertake site surveys and requirements gathering activities.
- Support the design and implementation of resilient OT communications solutions from field devices through to control centres.
- Manage Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and cutover activities.
- Ensure successful handover of completed systems to operations and support teams.
- Support programme budget management, cost forecasting, and financial governance activities.
- Engage with stakeholders across operations, engineering, IT, and third-party vendors to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Produce and maintain project documentation throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience delivering OT projects involving SCADA systems, PLCs, telemetry systems, and industrial communication networks.
- Strong understanding of the OSI model and how OT telemetry and control systems operate across network layers.
- Proven experience delivering OT communications projects, including resilient field-to-control-centre connectivity solutions.
- Demonstrable experience across the full SCADA project lifecycle, including site surveys and requirements capture, solution design and documentation, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and cutover, operational handover and support transition.
- Experience managing and coordinating multiple suppliers, system integrators, and third-party vendors.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience supporting project financial management, cost forecasting, and programme governance.
Mandatory Requirements
- Willingness to travel to operational sites 3-4 days per week.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Access to a personal vehicle with appropriate business-use insurance.
