12 month contract initially – Outside IR35 – London based (1 day a week on site). My client is a consumer‑facing technology business building data‑driven products at scale. They are looking for a technically strong, people‑focused Engineering Manager to lead the development of a modern machine learning platform that enables teams to deliver ML solutions reliably and efficiently.
In this role, you will co‑lead a cross‑functional team responsible for designing, building, and operating a greenfield ML platform on GCP. You will partner closely with Product, Data Science, and Infrastructure stakeholders, as well as working directly with GCP partners, to deliver a scalable, secure, and maintainable ML platform using Vertex AI, Terraform‑based infrastructure, and modern MLOps best practices.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience leading machine learning, platform, or infrastructure engineering teams.
- Strong technical background in cloud‑based ML systems (GCP preferred).
- Hands‑on experience with Vertex AI, Terraform, and modern CI/CD and MLOps practices.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands‑on technical involvement.
- Strong people‑management skills, including coaching, performance management, and hiring.
- Experience working closely with Product and Data Science teams.
