IT Delivery Lead – LMS Replacement Programme

Contract: Initial 6 months, rolling – anticipated 12–18 months

Rate: Competitive

Location: Hybrid – approximately 1 day per week onsite in either Cambridge or Macclesfield, per candidate location

Industry: Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences

We are supporting a major global pharmaceutical organisation with a significant enterprise Learning Management System (LMS) replacement programme.

This is a senior technology delivery position requiring someone with extensive experience operating within pharmaceutical or life sciences environments, with particular expertise in delivering enterprise LMS or learning technology transformations within validated GxP environments.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the technology workstream, leading delivery across platform implementation, integrations, data migration, testing, validation, deployment readiness and transition into service.

This is not a generic Project Manager position. We are looking for a highly experienced delivery leader who understands the complexities of implementing learning technology within a regulated pharmaceutical environment and can operate credibly with senior business, technology, quality and compliance stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end technology delivery for a major enterprise LMS replacement programme.
  • Own the integrated technology delivery plan, roadmap, dependencies and critical path.
  • Lead delivery across platform configuration, integrations, environments, data migration, testing and deployment.
  • Embed GxP validation and compliance requirements throughout the technology delivery lifecycle.
  • Lead and coordinate Computer System Validation (CSV) activities, including validation strategy, requirements traceability, qualification testing, defect management and validation evidence.
  • Partner closely with Quality, Compliance and Validation teams to ensure the platform remains inspection and audit ready.
  • Coordinate internal technology teams, implementation partners, suppliers and programme stakeholders.
  • Manage programme RAID, governance, reporting, financial controls and delivery assurance.
  • Work closely with business and L&D stakeholders to align technology delivery with business readiness, training, deployment and adoption.
  • Lead service transition, operational readiness, hypercare and post-deployment stabilisation.
  • Identify opportunities to utilise AI, automation and digital technologies to improve programme delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • Extensive experience delivering technology programmes within pharmaceutical or life sciences organisations.
  • Strong experience implementing or transforming enterprise Learning Management Systems (LMS) or learning technology ecosystems.
  • Proven delivery of validated GxP-regulated systems through the complete validation lifecycle.
  • Strong hands‑on understanding of Computer System Validation (CSV).
  • Experience working directly with Quality, Compliance and Validation functions.
  • Experience delivering systems subject to regulatory inspection and stringent compliance requirements.
  • Significant experience leading complex, global technology transformation programmes.
  • Enterprise SaaS implementation experience involving integrations, data migration, testing and service transition.
  • Strong supplier, vendor and third‑party implementation partner management.
  • Excellent senior stakeholder management within complex global organisations.
  • Ability to operate across Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery environments.

Highly Desirable

  • Multiple LMS implementations within pharmaceutical or life sciences organisations.
  • Experience with Cornerstone or comparable enterprise learning platforms.
  • 10+ years' experience operating within pharmaceutical/life sciences technology environments.
  • Experience delivering global learning or HR technology transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between learning systems, validation, regulatory compliance and pharmaceutical operations.
  • Experience incorporating AI or automation into technology delivery.

The Opportunity

This is a long-term transformation programme offering the opportunity to take a leading role in the replacement of a strategically important global learning platform within a highly regulated environment.

The initial engagement will be for 6 months on a rolling basis, with the wider programme anticipated to run for approximately 12–18 months.

The position is Outside IR35 and requires approximately one day per week onsite, with flexibility to work from either Cambridge or Macclesfield.

We are particularly keen to speak with senior pharmaceutical technology professionals who combine deep LMS expertise with genuine GxP/CSV delivery experience.
