Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Business Technology Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping a secure, reliable and future-ready technology landscape for the UK business. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with responsibility across IT and Operational Technology, acting as the strategic bridge between UK leadership and Group IT. You will shape the local technology roadmap in line with group architecture and cyber standards, while ensuring technology actively enables business growth, operational excellence and data-led decision-making. The role is operational from day one, with strong support from Group IT. Over time, you will take on greater autonomy and strategic ownership across all UK technology domains.

  • Translate UK growth and operational plans into clear technology, data, OT and digital initiatives
  • Build and govern the UK IT/OT project portfolio, including budgets, delivery plans and benefits tracking
  • Oversee all IT and OT operations across UK sites, covering infrastructure, connectivity, security and end-user support
  • Manage complex vendor and service-provider ecosystems, ensuring strong SLAs, performance and commercial control
  • Act as the primary UK interface with Group IT across infrastructure, cybersecurity, data platforms and digital systems
  • Ensure adherence to Group policies, standards and security frameworks across UK operations
  • Deliver projects using appropriate methodologies (gate-based, waterfall and agile), with clear governance and milestones
  • Monitor service performance, risk, resilience and continuous improvement
  • Support adoption of data, automation, AI and digital solutions to drive efficiency and operational performance.

About You

  • Proven experience in an IT Manager or Business Technology leadership role, with operational ownership
  • Strong background in IT programme, portfolio or service delivery within multi-vendor environments
  • Solid understanding of IT and OT landscapes, including connectivity and exposure to industrial or SCADA systems
  • Experience delivering projects using recognised methodologies (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile); certifications preferred
  • Strong grounding in ITIL service management; certification desirable
  • Demonstrated success managing vendors, contracts, SLAs and service performance
  • Commercially minded, able to translate technology into clear business value
  • Experience in energy, utilities, industrial operations or infrastructure-heavy sectors is advantageous
  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging senior stakeholders and leadership teams

Personal Attributes

  • Fast learner with the ability to quickly master new technology domains
  • Curious and forward-thinking about technology, data, OT, cyber and digital transformation
  • Proactive, accountable and delivery-focused, with a strong ownership mindset
