A leading company at the forefront of immersive content technology is looking for an experienced Rendering Technical Director to join its growing team. This is a unique opportunity to work with groundbreaking tools that push the boundaries of volumetric video and six degrees of freedom (6DoF) storytelling in cinematic experiences.

Location: Hybrid (London) or Remote (EU-friendly time zones preferred)

About the Role

As a Technical Director focused on FX and rendering, you will support both internal teams and external production studios in adopting a new volumetric video format integrated into standard CGI pipelines. Your work will span pipeline support, technical documentation, creative collaboration, and production troubleshooting. You’ll be hands-on with tools like Houdini and modern render engines, helping bring cinematic VR experiences to life with true depth, movement, and immersion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with CGI and VFX teams to integrate and support volumetric video workflows.
  • Test and validate plugins and tools used in FX-heavy pipelines.
  • Create clear, engaging documentation and tutorials to support external creators.
  • Troubleshoot rendering and integration issues during production.
  • Assist with improving interoperability between 3D software and immersive video formats.

What We’re Looking For

  • Solid experience with Houdini and FX pipelines.
  • Proficiency with render engines such as Arnold, V-Ray, Redshift, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of production workflows in feature films, VFX, or high-end CGI.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Python) and comfort with command-line tools.
  • Strong communication skills; English fluency required, additional languages a plus.
  • A problem-solving mindset and willingness to work across disciplines.
