A well-established UK software company is looking for an experienced Java developer to join one of its Scrum teams in a senior, hands-on role. The business has a strong engineering culture built around Agile and XP practices and develops modern, cloud-based software used at scale.
This role would suit a senior or principal-level Java engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, mentoring others, and contributing to how teams and technology evolve.
The role
You will be a hands-on member of a Scrum team, contributing to the design, build and delivery of new products and features. Alongside development work, you will provide technical leadership, support the growth of other developers, and help drive continuous improvement across engineering practices. The role combines senior-level software development with coaching and collaboration across disciplines including product, UX, testing and customers. The working model is hybrid, with flexibility around office attendance depending on individual circumstances.
Technology and ways of working
- Modern Java (currently JDK 17)
- Agile and XP practices including TDD, pair programming and CI
- Cloud and DevOps tooling such as Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform
- Focus on clean code, automated testing and continuous delivery
You will not be expected to be an expert in every tool, but you should be comfortable working in modern engineering environments.
