TechNest are looking for experienced Commissioning Engineers to join a high-profile Network Engineering project supporting SP Energy Networks (SPEN). This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale enterprise network deployment, providing technical expertise across design, implementation, commissioning and project delivery. This is a fully site-based role in Kirkintilloch, Glasgow, so candidates must be able to travel to site daily.
The Role
- Provide 3rd line engineering support for customer network implementations.
- Review implementation plans received from Project Engineers.
- Assess network topology and circuitry to support project planning.
- Create and validate configuration scripts across a range of networking platforms.
- Support the design, build and deployment of enterprise network solutions.
- Monitor customer networks during planned changes and perform risk assessments before and after implementation.
- Update network and circuit information within engineering databases.
- Complete commissioning documentation and administrative activities.
- Work with technologies including Xtran, SDH and PDH.
- Support networks using fibre, copper, leased lines, radio and 4G connectivity.
About You
You'll be an experienced Network or Commissioning Engineer with strong Cisco networking knowledge and a background delivering LAN and WAN solutions within enterprise or service provider environments. You'll also have:
- Strong Cisco IOS knowledge.
- Experience with routing and switching.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900 and ASR900 Series routers.
- Experience with Cisco 2520 and 4010 switches.
- Good understanding of LAN/WAN technologies.
- Knowledge of SDH and PDH concepts.
- Experience working with fibre, copper, leased lines, radio and 4G technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience producing technical documentation and maintaining accurate records.
- Good Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant experience within Network Engineering or Telecommunications.
- CCNA or CCDA certification.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work on-site in Kirkintilloch, Glasgow, five days per week.
- Eligible to obtain BPSS clearance.
Desirable
- CCNP or CCDP certification.
- Previous experience delivering enterprise network commissioning or implementation projects.
