Based solely in local NI offices with a degree of flexibility, this is an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong Mechanical building Services Design experience to step into a leadership and delivery role in a fast-moving sector.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the design delivery for decarbonising a range of commercial projects.
- Delivering mechanical designs including schematics, calculations, plant selections, BOMs, and project specifications.
- Developing and validating BMS control strategies, from design through to on-site verification.
- Collaborating with fabrication teams to ensure designs are accurately translated into manufactured solutions.
- Supporting commissioning activities, including optimisation and proofing of BMS controls.
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers.
Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or equivalent.
- Chartered Engineer ideal but not essential (CIBSE or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar mechanical design role.
- Solid understanding of UK & European legislation, standards, and best practice.
- Strong experience designing LTHW, MTHW, and steam heating systems.
- Experience conducting site surveys, energy assessments, and audits.
- Proven ability to coordinate mechanical layouts and service routes.
Ideal background:
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM 360.
- Experience using IES, Hysopt, or similar simulation software.
- Delivery of energy efficiency measures and decarbonisation.
- Knowledge of heat pump refrigerants and system optimisation.
- Design of solar thermal installations and district heating networks.
- BREEAM implementation on retrofit projects.
- Building energy metering, monitoring, and verification.
