TechMet are recruiting on for an experienced multiskilled Maintenance Engineer with the ability to oversee aspects of engineering and facilities. They will be left alone but in return need to be a self starter with good ideas, get up and go and take a real sense of ownership in a small engineering department. Based convenient for Ards/ Bangor peninsula Working hours: Monday to Friday, 07:0015:45 This is a standalone engineering role suited to a proactive, hands-on engineer with strong mechanical and electrical skills who can manage their own workload while ensuring production equipment and site services operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. Unique role offering a great variety and will appeal to a true engineer who can get on with things without the red - tape, interference and hassle. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production equipment, including homogenisers, plate heat exchangers (PHE), pumps, and filling machines, together with all associated site utilities within a food manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent fault-finding ability, practical problem-solving skills, and the confidence to work independently. Maintain a robust Planned Maintenance System (PMS) schedule across three production lines, utilities, and site equipment. Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime. Maintain accurate engineering records, maintenance logs, and documentation to support compliance and audit readiness. Provide mechanical and electrical fault finding across: Filling lines, Conveyors, Pumps, Motors, Sensors, Control panels Basic PLC-related issues, primarily associated with CIP and filling lines. Restore production equipment safely and efficiently to minimise disruption. Work closely with contractors to maintain and monitor site utilities, including: Compressed air systems, Refrigeration equipment, Oil-fired boilers, Air filtration systems Ensure all engineering activities comply with food safety, hygiene, health & safety, and environmental standards, including HACCP and BRCGS requirements. Maintain safe systems of work and oversee contractor control procedures. Support internal and external audits by providing engineering records, maintenance documentation, and technical information. Essential Time-served apprentice or qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent multi-skilled engineering qualification). Proven maintenance engineering experience within a food manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills. Experience working with conveyors, pumps, motors, pneumatics, and basic control systems. Ability to work independently in a standalone engineering role. Good understanding of health & safety, food safety, engineering compliance, and best maintenance practices. Desirable Experience maintaining refrigeration systems, boilers, or compressed air equipment.
