Techmet are recruiting for a Northern Ireland-based precision engineering and manufacturing company specialising in aerospace components. The business focuses on CNC machining, advanced manufacturing processes, and tooling solutions for high-precision industries. We are currently seeking a CNC Programming Engineer for aerospace manufacturing, producing offline CAM programs for 3, 4, and 5 axis machining of aluminium and titanium.
The role includes:
- Tool selection
- NC verification using Vericut
- Fixture design
- Creating process documentation
You will work with production and quality teams to improve efficiency, reduce costs and cycle times, support quotations and ERP data, and liaise with suppliers and subcontract programmers to ensure timely, compliant delivery.
Location: Portadown, Northern Ireland
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Mon-Thurs 07:00-16:00, Fri 07:00-12:00
Salary: £45,000
Responsibilities and duties:
- Offline CNC programming of aerospace components on 3, 4 and 5 axis machines using CAM software
- Responsible for selecting efficient tooling packages for each component
- Develop machining strategies for cutting various materials such as aluminium and titanium
- Verifying NC code using Vericut and engineering sign-off procedures
- Creating process booklets and work instructions for machine set up and tool assembly
- Design fixtures and work holding devices for components
- Update ERP systems with all relevant information for each component
- Work closely with Production and Quality departments to improve current manufacturing methods, driving down machining and labour costs
- Aid Marketing and Sales teams by designing manufacturing concepts for potential projects and assisting with quotations
Qualifications: Relevant third level qualification in STEM
Experience: Using CAM software, for example Mastercam or similar
Knowledge: Of CNC machining strategies and processes
Desirable: Experience in the manufacture of hard metals
