Power station Operations Technicians Tech Met have been retained locally to partner with both power stations on a number of appointments.

An opportunity has arisen to join our Operations teams at both Kilroot and Ballylumford Power Stations as a Power Station Operations Technician.

Key aspects Initially will be a period of Monday to Friday hours but ultimately this will become a shift role and will involve 12 hour shifts over the week- 8am- 8pm or 8pm to 8 am and will mean weekends as well on the rota.

Candidates must carefully consider the implication and suitability to work/ life balance.

This structured 23 year programme combines practical, on-the-job experience with formal training, providing a clear pathway to becoming a fully competent Operations Technician within one of Northern Ireland's most important electricity generation businesses.

Commencement salary £42,542 - £46,961 We welcome applications from candidates at all stages of their career.

Previous power generation experience is not essential as full training will be provided.

We are particularly interested in individuals with a strong technical aptitude and practical experience gained through engineering, manufacturing, utilities, agriculture, construction, marine, process operations or other industrial environments Qualifications Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong technical aptitude and interest in engineering or plant operations through one or more of the following: A recognised apprenticeship or equivalent training in an engineering or technical discipline.

A relevant third-level qualification such as an HNC, HND or Foundation Degree.

Practical experience operating, maintaining or troubleshooting machinery, equipment or industrial processes.

Experience gained in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, utilities, construction, transport, marine, quarrying, military or other technical environments.

Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor power generation plant, including gas turbines, steam turbines, generators and associated auxiliary systems.

Start up, synchronise, load, unload and shut down generating units in line with operating procedures and system demand requirements Carry out routine plant inspections, identify equipment defects and report issues through station maintenance systems.

Monitor plant performance, respond to alarms and take corrective actions to maintain safe and efficient operation.

Isolate plant and equipment under station safety rules to allow maintenance teams to work safely.

Maintain accurate operational logs, reports and shift handover records.

Equipment Typically Operated At the two stations, Operations Technicians may be involved with: Open Cycle Gas Turbines (OCGT) at Kilroot.

Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plant at Ballylumford.

Steam turbines and generators.

Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs).

Fuel gas systems.

Compressed air systems.

Fire protection systems.

Water treatment and reverse osmosis plant Low voltage and high voltage electrical apparatus The first part of the training and development programme will most likely be based at Kilroot.

However, the role itself involves working across both the Kilroot and Ballylumford sites, so ideally candidates should be able to drive and have access to a car.

Sites are both exceptionally advanced and ideal for instance for Technicians perhaps interested moving away from high volume manufacturing and interested in more niche Power Generation/ Renewables sector with excellent career opportunities and working with very advanced systems.
