TechMet are recruiting for a Mechanical or Electrical Project Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team delivering industrial automation projects across a wide range of industries. This is an exciting and diverse opportunity suited to an engineer looking to expand their expertise into robotics, bespoke machine builds, and process-style systems, while taking ownership of full project lifecycles.

You will manage bespoke industrial projects from initial customer engagement through to quotation, proposal, design, build, installation, and commissioning, working closely within a multidisciplinary project team. The role requires a strong understanding of industrial customer requirements, alongside the ability to manage technical delivery, timelines, budgets, and client expectations. You will also contribute technically to projects within your discipline, whether mechanical design, electrical design, PLC/SCADA programming, robotics, or commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage full project lifecycle delivery of industrial automation projects
  • Engage with customers from initial enquiry through to project completion
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, and technical documentation
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and delivery milestones
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams and external stakeholders
  • Support mechanical and/or electrical design activities
  • Contribute to PLC, SCADA, or robotics programming and commissioning (where applicable)
  • Ensure successful installation and commissioning of systems on customer sites
  • Deliver complete project documentation packages
Requirements
  • Degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or related field)
  • Minimum 4 years experience in Project Engineering within an industrial environment
  • Experience delivering CAPEX machinery or upgrade projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of industrial engineering project delivery
