Continental shift based Maintenance Technician position in Belfast and FMCG plant. Multi-skilled Engineers preferred but single skilled candidates willing to be upskilled will be considered. The environment is clean, highly automated, and non-food.
Qualifications:
- Hold a NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (Electric bias preferred).
Experience:
- Post qualification mechanical and electrical experience gained in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience in pneumatics, inverters, servo drives & motors, robotics, process wiring, and safety controls.
- Experience in fitment and setup of mechanical components, timing belts, spur & bevel gears, bearings, and shaft alignment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Complete planned repairs and preventative maintenance in accordance with the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to prevent breakdowns and maintain optimal operation of equipment, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Complete breakdown repairs in accordance with the CMMS, reporting daily to ensure minimal disruption to production requirements.
- Ensure maintenance work backlogs are actively cleared, including overtime working as necessary.
- Source, identify, and order spare parts when required to minimise associated downtime with specific repairs.
- Maintain awareness of energy usage, particularly when machines are idling and not producing, to reduce energy consumption and lower the carbon footprint.
- Compliant hygienic maintenance practices and lock-out procedures to protect employees from rotating machinery.
- Supervise contractors as required to ensure Health and Safety compliance.
- Travel to multi-site facilities as requested to complete maintenance requirements.
- Carry out all maintenance work in compliance with Health and Safety and statutory regulations to provide a safe environment for employees.
Skills:
- Able to demonstrate experience of electrical and mechanical fault-finding / problem solving.
- Able to read and understand electrical drawings.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Previous experience of training and mentoring/coaching of team members would be advantageous.
- Available to travel to multi-site locations.
The Maintenance Technician role operates on a rotating 4-shift pattern providing 24/7 maintenance support across the production facility, including a combination of day and night shifts, and weekend working.
