An unique and new Group opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Engineering Manager or Head of Engineering calibre to take on a pivotal Group role within a leading multi-site Irish success story. The role will offer great autonomy and the Engineering function is pivotal within the Group. The role would be an excellent career move for someone relocating or even someone perhaps living in the Monaghan / Louth / Cavan area. Turnover in the engineering team is very low and stability is very high, and the engineering function is highly respected.
The Role
- The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Engineering function to ensure maximum equipment uptime, efficient energy usage and safe, compliant factory operations.
- This role oversees the reliability of production assets, leads engineering projects, manages the utilities infrastructure (steam, compressed air, refrigeration, HVAC, ETP, water treatment) and drives continuous improvement across the plant.
- Drive the development and implementation of Site Asset Care Strategy.
- Ensure continued development of preventive, predictive and autonomous maintenance programmes to minimise downtime, utilising CMMS.
- Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained to OEM standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, manage and control the annual Engineering & Utilities budget while leading cost reduction initiatives.
- Utilise effective KPIs to monitor performance.
- Manage the continuous and efficient operation of site utilities including boilers, compressors, chillers, fire water systems, water treatment, ETP, HVAC and power distribution.
- Manage maintenance schedules and monitor utilities performance.
- Provide clear engineering capital spend priorities through detailed analysis and sound business reasoning.
- Deliver Engineering and Utilities projects on schedule and to specification.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure project requirements are met in full and on time.
- Drive OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvement initiatives.
- Instil and drive Operational Excellence standards and culture within the Engineering Department.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering plus leadership in blue chip Pharma/ FMCG or allied sector.
- Proven experience managing engineering and maintenance functions, including preventative, predictive and reliability-based maintenance programmes in highly automated environments.
- Experience using CMMS systems to manage assets, maintenance plans and performance.
- Strong budget ownership experience, including cost control, CapEx planning and delivery of cost-reduction initiatives.
- Proven people leadership experience, including developing Engineers and Technicians, performance management and skills development.
- Track record of driving Operational Excellence and OEE improvements in a manufacturing setting.
