TechMet are recruiting on behalf of a leading precast concrete manufacturer for a full-time Stores Co-Ordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the efficient management of all materials, tools and inventory used in the precast concrete manufacturing process. This includes the receipt, storage, issuance and record-keeping of raw materials (cement, aggregates, steel, admixtures) and consumables. The role ensures smooth operations through the timely availability of materials while minimising wastage and controlling inventory costs. This position will suit an experienced individual with a background in stores or materials management. Accuracy, organisation and a proactive approach are key to successfully managing the stores function.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, hours per week. A flexi-time system allows hours to be worked between 7:30am and 6:00pm.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintaining accurate stock records for materials, tools, consumables, spare parts, etc.
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile physical stock with system records.
- Implement and follow Lean inventory control techniques to minimise material waste and loss.
- Document and report any discrepancies within orders or damaged goods immediately.
- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders to ensure the correct specification, quantity and quality.
- Organise and maintain the stores area to ensure all items are accessible and the environment is safe to work in; good housekeeping is mandatory.
- Monitor usage patterns to ensure optimal stock flow and reduce idle inventory.
- Maintain Kanban systems to the factories.
- Communicate across factories to forecast material requirements and avoid shortages or delays.
- Maintain up-to-date records within the ERP system.
- Comply with internal audit requirements and external regulatory standards, including fire safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensure the safe handling, stacking and movement of heavy or hazardous materials in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
- Supervise, train and evaluate stores personnel to ensure efficient operations.
- Assign tasks and monitor the performance of storekeepers.
- Promote teamwork and accountability within the department.
Essential Criteria:
- Hands-on experience managing materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with audits, documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of safe material handling, PPE requirements and storage standards.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Proven ability to supervise or lead a team.
- Knowledge of inventory control methods, including safety stock and reorder levels.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Flexibility to respond to changing business needs.
- Ability to deal effectively with unexpected challenges such as supply delays, urgent production requirements or damaged materials.
