THE PROJECT / ROLE
You will lead a diverse team of 4-6 multi-skilled Software Engineers and SDETs in Kaunas, Lithuania, and London, UK, primarily tasked with the development of Flight Status update delivery over our Alerts and HTTP push mechanisms. Our initiative is targeted towards the implementation of a platform based on industry standards and best practices, thus ensuring crucial enablement of OAG’s core business. Our focus is on the timely delivery of flight status updates. The role is open to candidates located in Kaunas, Lithuania.
YOU WILL:
- Lead a high-performing engineering team by attracting, growing, and retaining talent while fostering a results-oriented, inclusive, and psychologically safe environment.
- Drive execution and delivery by managing scope, roadmaps, priorities, and trade-offs in alignment with product and organizational business goals and OKRs.
- Partner with tech leads and senior engineers to maintain technical health and engineering excellence, including strong quality standards and implementation of best practices.
- Manage performance and support career growth through clear expectations, effective 1:1s, regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Translate organizational and product objectives into actionable team plans and measurable outcomes, tracking progress and health using qualitative and quantitative signals.
- Coordinate across functions (product, engineering, data, infrastructure, and beyond) to ensure alignment on ownership, dependencies, and priorities, surfacing and escalating unresolved misalignment or ambiguity.
- Drive continuous improvement of team practices, workflows, and rituals to increase efficiency and sustainability, proactively minimizing single points of failure through resilient ownership.
- Contribute to organizational growth through hiring, onboarding, levelling, and cross-team initiatives, including helping to share knowledge and improve engineering practices across the wider organization.
ESSENTIAL:
- Solid hands-on software engineering experience from design to production delivery and maintenance – Plan, Build & Run.
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages (C# preferred) and principles.
- Experience working with at least one cloud provider (Azure, AWS or GCP).
- Good software architecture skills, ability to design complex systems from the ground up with functional and non-functional requirements in mind.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performance engineering teams with a focus on inclusivity, team cohesion, trust, and accountability.
- Customer-centric mindset and strong ownership for results, impact, and continuous improvement. Data-informed approach to decision making.
- Exposure to operational excellence practices (incident management, postmortems, and continuous improvement loops).
DESIRABLE:
- Experience working in a data-intensive, platform, or SaaS environment.
- Familiarity with engineering practices for reliability and maintainability at scale.
- Familiarity with common technologies in our ecosystem (e.g., Azure Event Hubs, MS SQL, Snowflake, Azure Cosmos DB, etc.).
