We are seeking a Senior Broadcast Engineer focussed on validation and testing to be the interface between the Software Development team and the Broadcast Systems Engineering team to ensure the highest standards of product functionality. The role is hybrid with a need to be in Bracknell 2-3 days a week. Occasional travel to UK client sites for support and fault replication may be required.
This role is the 'hub' within multi‑disciplinary Techex teams (Development, Support and Technical) to ensure the highest standards of product quality and ensure technical issues are resolved swiftly. You will act as a gateway, testing and validating all functionality released from software development from the perspective of a user engineer.
You will be the expert interfacing with our broadcast engineering teams to support the identification and recreation of all bugs, provide workarounds and feed into roadmap bug fixes and report test results, including defects and issues within a release.
- The testing regimen and history of individual module releases.
- Performance features (including limitations).
- External release notes for all software releases made either on a beta or GA basis.
- User guides – internally.
You will have accountability for managing the gate process, controlling when software can be released from the development team, and be satisfied any releases have been suitably tested.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in broadcast systems or Broadcast engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience of working with software first real‑time broadcasting system.
- Demonstrable experience of Scripting & Automation e.g. Ansible, Terraform, Python.
- Experience of deploying and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle.
- Experience of using network analysis / packet capture tools such as Wireshark.
- Understanding of real time transport and encapsulation protocols such as RTP, UDP, SRT, RIST, ZIXI, and MPEG‑TS.
- Linux server operating system experience.
- Knowledge of audio / video and media standards (e.g. AVC, HEVC, JPEG‑XS, ST 2022, ST 2110).
Desirable:
- Ability to use test equipment / software to analyse MPEG streams.
- Experience of public cloud platform architecture / design.
- Experience with either Influx, Redis, Kafka, Grafana, Kibana.
