We are seeking a technically strong, commercially aware Product Engineer to support the development, positioning, and performance of our product portfolio.

This role combines hands-on technical engagement with R&D, product management responsibilities, and strong customer interaction. The Product Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that real-world customer insight, technical feasibility, and commercial considerations are aligned throughout the product lifecycle.

Working closely with R&D, Sales, and customers, the Product Engineer will contribute to product definition, technical evaluation, and lifecycle decisions, while also supporting pricing, margins, and supplier considerations.
This is an outward-facing role requiring excellent customer service skills, strong communication, resilience, and the ability to balance customer needs with technical performance and commercial viability.

Key Responsibilities


Technical & R&D Product Engineering
• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the electronics and
embedded systems underpinning company products.
• Work closely with R&D to support: technical design reviews, prototype testing,
validation, performance assessment and investigation of technical issues
arising from customer feedback.
• Provide technical input into product decisions, ensuring feasibility,
performance, quality, and risk are clearly understood.
• Assist with documentation covering:
Product performance, limitations, and operating constraints
Application guidance for customers and sales use
Test and validation outcomes
• Support compliance and validation activities linked to market access
Product Definition & Lifecycle Support
• Support early-stage product definition through:
o Market and application needs analysis
o Use case development
o High-level technical and commercial requirements
• Translate customer and market needs into clear, structured inputs for R&D.
• Contribute to product lifecycle decisions, including:

  • Enhancements and variants
  • Cost-reduction initiatives
  • End-of-life and replacement planning
• Support product prioritisation through evidence-based analysis and technical
insight.
Customer Insight & Product Discovery
• Gather and analyse customer feedback from sales interactions, customer meetings, and ongoing product use.
• Build a strong understanding of customer applications, use cases, pain points, and unmet needs.
• Capture and share customer insight to inform product improvements, new product concepts, and roadmap decisions.
• Translate customer feedback into actionable input for product and engineering teams.
• Support customer-led problem identification and validation activities.
Market & Competitor Analysis
• Analyse competitor products, including features, performance, pricing, and value positioning.
• Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, regulations, and industry developments.
• Provide clear insights to support new product development, roadmap planning, and go-to-market activity.
• Identify portfolio gaps, differentiation opportunities, and technical or commercial risks.
Commercial, Pricing & Supplier Awareness
• Support analysis of pricing structures, margins, and product cost drivers.
• Assist in maintaining and reviewing price lists to ensure market and margin alignment.
• Work with Procurement and Operations to assess alternative suppliers, components, and cost–performance trade-offs.
• Contribute to discussions around product commercial viability alongside technical performance.
• Build awareness of how technical and product decisions impact revenue, margin, and competitiveness.
Sales & Customer Support
• Support Sales and Marketing with:
o Application-level product guidance
o Technical input and clarification
o Product positioning and comparison support
• Help prepare customer-facing materials such as presentations, product summaries, and proposal or tender input.
• Participate in customer meetings, demonstrations, and trade events where appropriate.
• Represent the product and the company professionally with a strong customer focus.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the CCO or senior management, consistent with the nature of the role.

Education & Experience


Essential
STEM background.
• Familiarity with electronics, embedded systems
• Interest in product development, customer needs, and commercial decision-making.

Desirable
• Exposure to product management, market research, or commercial projects.
• Basic awareness of pricing, margins, or cost of goods.
• Familiarity with industrial technology markets.
