We're partnering with a well-established professional services firm to find a Data Management & Governance Specialist for a newly created 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a brilliant opportunity for a hands-on data professional to make a real impact building governance foundations from the ground up within a collaborative, forward-thinking data team and be the ambassador for data governance within the firm.
The role sits within the Data function, reporting directly to the Head of Data, with a secondary support element to the DPO on an as-needed basis.
What you'll be doing:
- Building and maintaining the firm's data catalogue, metadata, business glossary, and classification framework.
- Defining and embedding practical data quality rules in collaboration with data owners and SMEs.
- Documenting data lineage and establishing stewardship roles across business teams.
- Supporting the rollout and configuration of a Data Catalogue tool.
- Partnering with Data Engineering to align datasets with governance standards.
- Translating governance concepts into clear, accessible guidance for non-technical stakeholders.
- Providing ad hoc support to the DPO on DPIAs, DSARs, ROPA updates, and incident response.
What we're looking for:
- 2β3+ years in data governance, data management, or data quality roles.
- Strong understanding of DAMA-aligned principles: metadata, lineage, ownership, stewardship, and classification.
- A pragmatic, value-driven approach; you build what's useful, not what's bureaucratic.
- Confident stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence without authority.
- Comfortable operating in a new and evolving function.
