The Role

As a Senior Molecular Biologist, you'll play a key role in developing and optimising molecular biology workflows that underpin a commercial gene synthesis platform. Working within a collaborative start-up environment, you'll combine hands-on laboratory work with scientific problem-solving to help take innovative technology from development to commercial reality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute and optimise molecular biology workflows, sequencing protocols and automated laboratory processes.
  • Lead experimental workstreams, analyse sequencing data using Python-based tools, and drive continuous improvement across the gene synthesis platform.
  • Collaborate with internal scientists and external partners while developing robust SOPs and supporting the transition towards commercial-scale operations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on molecular biology experience with expertise in troubleshooting workflows and operating Nanopore and Sanger sequencing platforms.
  • Experience with automated liquid handling systems and Python for scientific or sequencing data analysis.
  • Commercial awareness, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to independently lead scientific workstreams.
