The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to join the Work Winning / Pre-Construction team. You will play a key role in the preparation and submission of competitive tenders across a range of refurbishment and planned maintenance projects. This role would suit someone with strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and proven experience pricing construction works within a main contracting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions
- Work closely with the bid and pre-construction team throughout the tender process
- Financial preparation and breakdown of bids
- Measure and take off quantities from drawings
- Obtain and assess supply chain quotations, ensuring compliance with tender documents
- Manage tender queries and clarifications
- Risk assess bids and report findings to senior management
- Present submissions for internal review and approval
- Attend client meetings, design team meetings, and site visits as required
- Support the handover of successful tenders to the delivery team
- Provide post-tender support and responses to project teams
- Promote and adhere to Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) standards
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in an Estimator role within a main contractor
- Strong experience in refurbishment and planned maintenance projects
- Good knowledge of current building legislation
- Up-to-date understanding of Health & Safety regulations
- Strong financial and commercial awareness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
- Confident negotiating and influencing skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
- Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues (desirable)
Working Hours
Monday to Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm (1 hour lunch)
